Collector’s Circle

What is the Collector's Circle?

The Collector's Circle is a group of museum (maybe “art”) enthusiasts who want to be more involved in collecting, both as private citizens and as part of the museum. Anyone is able to join for a fee of $500 above your membership level. If you are under 40, you can join for just $250!

The money from the Collector's Circle is saved in an account dedicated for intentional acquisitions for the museum collection. The Alexandria Museum of Art does not (have funding dedicated) dedicate any other funds to adding to the collection - we rely on gifts and donations to add to our permanent collection - so the Collector's Circle is the only way to add to the collection in a meaningful and strategic way. As a member of the Circle, your voice will be heard when it comes time to purchase new works of art to be added to AMoA's collection. Below, you can see some of the pieces past Collector's Circle members have approved for purchase with their funds!

In addition to helping the museum further its collecting goals, Collector's Circle members get access to exclusive programming, including

  • Collecting focused presentations from museum staff and visiting scholars
  • Artist studio visits, behind the scenes tours, and special presentations
  • Planned trips to artistically rich areas featuring unique art experiences
  • Examples of trips/Excursions (Catherine to provide)
