The Art of Gail Shelton
Gail H. Shelton is an artist based in Winnfield, Louisiana. Inspired by her love for travel, Shelton creates portraits, wildlife, and still life works from photographs taken on her trips. The works in this exhibition are created using layered colored pencil, often using solvents to lend a more paint-like appearance. In addition to colored pencil, Shelton also paints with watercolor.
After receiving her Bachelor’s in Art Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Shelton taught in Winn Parish for 20 years before retiring to run the Pea Patch Gallery in Winnfield. Gail Shelton is the keynote speaker and workshop leader for the 2014 Louisiana Art Educator’s Association Conference (LAEA).
The Louisiana Art Educator’s Association (LAEA) is an extension of the National Association of Art Educators (NAEA). Both organizations provide cater exclusively to visual arts educators in all areas, as well as students who are studying to become art educators.
