Tom and Pat Cory have been involved professionally in photography for many years. Combining their love of nature, travel and teaching, they have worked as a husband/wife team conducting photography workshops and tours locally, nationally and internationally since 1987. They also offer individual lessons and custom trips. Their work has been published in numerous calendars and publications such as Outdoor Photographer, Nature Photographer, Sky Magazine and Blue Ridge Country. While they specialize in nature and travel photography, Tom also enjoys environmental portraiture. Pat specializes in video and has produced a DVD entitled Visions of Nature, 34 minutes of nature video set to hammer dulcimer music and a documentary video on the building of the Coolidge Park Carousel in Chattanooga. Tom and Pat have published three books, Scenic Chattanooga and Beyond, a guide to natural areas within 75 miles of Chattanooga, their popular instructional book, Notes from the Field, now in its 7th printing and Gently Touch the Earth, a book of some of their favorite images along with upbeat and thoughtful quotations. Tom is a clinical psychologist and he retains a part-time practice. Pat handles most of business side of their company, Cory Nature and Travel Photography. Background: Tom earned his Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology and has been in private practice for 35 years. He is very interested in the creative aspects of photography. Pat earned her BA in Economics and her professional career was in the area of information technology and management. They both have studied photography with many of the best known photographers in the country.
