Is your group planning a Museum visit?
AMoA has several types of tours available to fit your needs. Please see our exhibition schedule for upcoming exhibits!
Self-Guided Group Tours
These tours are available for independent viewing for groups of 10 or less. Guests are invited to participate in gallery activities with Exhibition Activity Sets for a more meaningful experience and deeper connection to the artwork on display. The activity sets will guide you through the galleries and pose questions that will help you engage with the work and delve deeper into themes and subject matter.
Self-Guided tours are not available for groups larger than 10.
Guided Group Tours
Tour groups of 10 or more will receive a $1.00 discount on each admission. Choose your style of Guided Tour:
Visual Thinking Strategies: For all ages but especially for K-12 students, VTS tours allow visitors to engage with art through group discussions that encourage participation, build self-confidence and improve critical thinking skills. For more information about VTS, see below or contact Cindy@themuseum.org.
Visual Thinking Strategies PLUS Art Activity: School groups may elect to participate in an art activity in the classroom or the galleries, following VTS. VTS+Art tours last approximately 1.5-2 hours. Add $3 to admission cost per participant.
Curatorial Tour: For those seeking to connect with the artwork through historial perspectives, visitors are led through the galleries by the AMoA Curator for approximately 30-45 minutes.
Sorry, Curatorial Tours are not available for K-12 school groups.
Student Tours and Field Trips
Teacher-Led Student Tours
Teacher-led tours are available Tuesday-Friday for teachers that wish to lead their own group. To take advantage of the tour discount rate, a confirmed reservation must be made at least two weeks in advance, based on gallery availability.
Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) with an AMoA Educator
The Museum is applying arts-based curriculum and teaching method called Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), which uses art to develope critical thinking, communication and visual literacy skills.
Through learning centered discussions of visual art, the participants will engage in a rigorous process of examination and evaluation. Studies have shown that VTS bolsters skillsets that students transfer to other settings and other subjects, including writing, math, social studies, and science. Students will be encouraged to formulate thoughtful responses based on their observations.
For more information about VTS Training for Teachers, please contact Cindy@themuseum.org.
