Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS)

The Museum is applying arts-based curriculum and teaching method called Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), which uses art to develope critical thinking, communication and visual literacy skills.

Through learning centered discussions of visual art, the participants will engage in a rigorous process of examination and evaluation. Studies have shown that VTS bolsters skillsets that students transfer to other settings and other subjects, including writing, math, social studies, and science.  Students will be encouraged to formulate thoughtful responses based on their observations.

AMoA also offers a FREE companion curricula for teachers known as the Educator's Guide. The lessons incuded in the Educator's Gide help to fulfill the BESE board requirements for art education. Download a sample here.
