SPECIAL NOTICE -

AMoA response to the Coronavirus

Dear Members and Friends,

I am sending this message to let you know that the 2020 Dragon Boat Races have been rescheduled for Saturday, October 3 with an even bigger community celebration as we come through this current health crisis. We will continue the registration process through the coming months and send along information as we finalize plans for the fall.

The Museum is closing its doors temporarily in response to COVID-19, instructions from LSU and local and state government. We will be shifting programming to online engagement. Watch for projects you can do at home as well as images and information about the works and artists in our current exhibitions and the museum collection. Watch for virtual tours, Visual Thinking Strategies discussions, and more to help you survive social distancing!

We look forward to reopening soon and appreciate your continued support and patience during this challenging time. Please visit our website at https://themuseum.org/, our social media sites, and watch for our newsletters to receive updates. Our staff will still respond to emails and we will check phone messages each day to return calls as necessary as we shift to working mainly from home.

Stay well and enjoy some creative, informative and fun time with us online.

All the best,

Catherine M. Pears,
Executive Director

Dragon Boat Races - Oct 3, 2020

2020 marks our race’s 10th year, and with the support of our corporate and community partners, we can continue to raise funds that support the Alexandria Museum of Art, while providing the quality racing and festival experience for competitors and spectators that the Louisiana Dragon Boat Races™ are known for.

Rapides Parish’s growing population base is an ideal match for people interested in dragon boating. AMoA works together with companies and partner organizations supporting many worthwhile causes focused on the local community.
