A solo exhibition of painting, sculptures and photographs by artist Joe Ray (American, b. 1944). The artist currently resides in Los Angeles and was born and raised in Alexandria. Joe attended South Alexandria Elementary School and Peabody Senior High School, where he began painting, and received school and state awards for his work. He went on to study Fine Arts at the University of Southern Louisiana in Lafayette before moving to Los Angeles in 1963.

This exhibition is Joe Ray’s homecoming and a retrospective of his six-decade career. It will include early paintings (1960- 1962) made in Alexandria, early cast resin sculpture from his ongoing Light and Space series and selected abstract skyscapes from his Nebula series, for which he is most recognized. He will also create works specifically for the exhibit in cooperation with Peabody students.
