Through the Eyes of Sarah Albritton

Exhibition Dates: June 6–August 23, 2014

Member Preview Reception and Artists’ Panel: Friday, June 6, 2014, 6-8pm

Ruston, Louisiana artist Sarah Albritton paints reconstructed emotional memories using both real and imagined elements. Most of her works are situated in a bird’s-eye view of the rural, north Louisiana landscape, confronting the past with blunt reality. Growing up as an African American in north Louisiana during the 1930s and 1940s, Albritton has expressed her experiences through various creative pursuits as a self-trained visual artist, writer, poet, cook, storyteller, and restaurant owner known for her yard art and holiday decorations.
