A Collection of Local Photography of the Historic Rapides CemeteryThe thirteen photographs in this exhibition highlight the award winning photographs from the photography contest by the Friends of the Historic Rapides Cemetery. Photographs of the Rapides Cemetery, the oldest public cemetery in Central Louisiana, were submitted for the competition, which were judged by a blind panel of photographer and citizen judges. The panel awarded first through third place in each of the four categories: Creative, Black and White, Essence of the Cemetery, and Most Endangered. The Friends of the Historic Rapides Cemetery is a group of volunteers dedicated to maintaining, preserving, and restoring the Rapides Cemetery, and are sponsored by the City of Pineville, the official custodian of the cemetery, as well as the Central Louisiana Historical Association. The group works to preserve the records and gravestones of the cemetery, as well as raise public awareness of the hidden treasure in our community. They welcome anyone who is interested and up to the task. Sponsors for the contest: city of Pineville and the Historical Association of Central Louisiana
