The time is approaching to enter your schools Art Works for the Alexandria Museum of Art’s 10th Annual Youth Art Month Juried Exhibition, Art Shapes the World.
All Central Louisiana Schools are invited to participate. There are four age categories; K- 2nd; 3rd-5th; 6th-8th; and 9th-12th. Each category will be awarded a 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and two Honorable Mention awards. Each school may submit up to six pieces of artwork for each category. The artwork will hang in the museum galleries from March 1 – May 31, 2014.
African-American storytelling traditions are connected to a sense of place through narrative subjects and landscapes of the American South. 20th century African American life is reflected in paintings, works on paper, and fabric works from the collection of costume designer and arts patron, Myrna Colley-Lee.
Explore contemporary trends in watercolor paintings through 40 watercolors by artists throughout the world. This juried exhibition is presented each year by the American Watercolor Society, a nonprofit membership organization that began in 1866 to promote the art of watercolor painting in America.
